Privacy and your learning data
Updated 5 October 2026. For privacy questions or requests, contact Beau-Dean Ranger at beau23051990@gmail.com.
What the site keeps
We store your username, email address and its verification status, preferred name, coaching language, chosen rating range, a protected password hash and recovery-code hash, sign-in sessions, coaching usage, membership records, and preferences you choose to save. Saved lesson data can include the latest board position, learning goals, and up to 16 recent conversation messages, so you can resume. Your password and recovery code are not stored as readable text.
How coaching works
When you ask the coach for help, your message, relevant recent conversation, board position, and learning preferences are sent to OpenAI to generate a reply. Voice coaching also sends microphone audio to OpenAI for processing. The website does not save raw microphone audio as lesson recordings. Microphone access starts only with your browser permission. Disconnect voice or close the coaching tab to end the audio connection.
Payments and hosting
Stripe collects and processes card and billing details on its checkout and billing pages. We keep identifiers and payment status needed to grant membership access, but do not store full card numbers. Render hosts the website and its database, currently in Singapore. OpenAI, Stripe, and Render may process data in other countries under their own policies: OpenAI, Stripe, and Render.
Email verification
When email delivery is available, we send a one-time verification code to the address you provide using Resend. Resend receives your email address and the verification message for delivery. Codes expire after 15 minutes; the site stores only a protected hash of the code. Verification emails do not subscribe you to marketing. Email verification is separate from password recovery, which still uses your private recovery code.
Cookies and security
A necessary secure session cookie keeps you signed in for up to seven days. Browser storage may remember board and display settings. Usage and operational records help us prevent abuse, enforce allowances, and diagnose faults. Never put passwords, API keys, card details, or sensitive personal information into coaching messages.
Optional analytics
If you choose “Allow analytics”, Google Analytics counts page visits and selected feature actions, such as opening lessons or requesting voice coaching. Google receives basic device, browser, approximate location and referral information, and uses first-party analytics cookies for up to 90 days. We do not send coaching messages, microphone audio, account identifiers, passwords, saved learning data, or URL query strings to Analytics. Advertising features and automatic form tracking are disabled. Google may process analytics data in other countries; see Google’s privacy policy.
Analytics is off until you accept. Use “Analytics preferences” at the bottom of any page to change your choice. Choosing “No thanks” stops collection and removes this site’s analytics cookies. Your choice is remembered on this browser for 90 days. Withdrawing consent does not delete data already received by Google; contact us with privacy requests.
Your choices and retention
You can edit preferences and clear saved learning data from My learning. Close other coaching tabs first so they do not save the lesson again. Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of other account information; we may need to verify account ownership. Some payment and security records may need to be retained for legal or operational reasons. We keep account and learning information while providing the service, and keep rolling backups; deletion from the active database may not immediately remove older backup copies.
